About Durham Well Drilling

Durham Well Drilling was established in 1959 by Percy Johnston. Starting with a one-man cable tool rig, we grew over the next 30 years with a solid reputation for customer service and a job well done. In 1989, Orval Kaufman came off the farm to work for Percy as a salesman. In 1992, the opportunity was presented for him and Paul Kaufman to purchase the business with one Speedstar Mud Rotor, 9000 Ford Water Truck, and 1989 Dodge Cummings, and the rest was history. 

 

Janette Kaufman became a partner in 2007, and Orval continued to do the sales work with his wife, Elaine, as they continued to meet clients at their sites at their request.

Paul and Janette have two sons, Matt and Derek.  In 2025, Derek became a partner in the business, marking the next generation’s transition toward leading the family business.   We are pleased to be reinforcing our commitment to remain family-owned and operated for generations.

 

Our shop is located next to our home, which allows us to be available and reactive to any urgent requests and phone calls.
